When will last-minute Cyber Monday PSU deals last until?
With the Black Friday deals season edging ever and ever forward each year, we’re expecting the Cyber Monday deals to go on further than before as well. That said, it’s impossible to know when exactly they will end. For instance, Amazon announced that their official deals period would last until the 27th however we are still seeing some of the deals go on and even new ones come up. All we can recommend is to act as soon as you are sure you are getting the right deal for you as there will be no warning of when the deals will disappear.
What to look out for when picking up a PSU deal?
Reliability
This has to be one of the most important things to look out for when picking up a PSU deal. Your power supply’s purpose is to provide your chosen components with what they need to function to their best and so an unreliable PSU can lead to many problems down the line. Plus, poorly made PSUs can cause excessive noise and vibrations across your rig. That said, you can be sure that a PSU from a top brand like the ones featured above will function properly. Just watch out for options that seem to be cheaper than the competition from brands you may not have heard of.
Passive vs. semi-passive PSU
Passive PSUs (otherwise known as fanless PSUs) are efficient enough to stay cool using only heatsinks. These are perfect for lower-wattage PCs and remain silent throughout usage. For more power-hungry builds, it’s recommended to go for a semi-passive PSU. Here the fans remain dormant until the consumption goes up, normally at about 40%.
How to know if a PSU deal is right for your PC build?
In order to know exactly which PSU deal is right for you, first you have to have planned out the rest of your PC build. From there, the choice is actually relatively simple compared to some. We consider your choice of PSU to be a great place to save some money for this reason. The most important thing to ensure is that your PSU can cover the required Wattage for your PC. You can calculate this using our Wattage calculator however this is something that is unlikely to affect your choice for low or mid-range machines.
Other than that, we encourage you to go for a PSU that is at least semi-modular as this can prove significantly more convenient when upgrading your PC down the line can help to increase airflow.
