The RX 7900 XTX remains as AMD’s flagship graphics card, and without any new models expected until the next generation, it is one of the best GPUs on the market available to you. It is frequently compared the RTX 4080 Super, but a price drop makes the XTX much better value – even more so than it already was.
We’ve reviewed both the RTX 4080 Super and RX 7900 XTX, and the latter is certainly the winner in terms of value. Nvidia do still boast the better ray tracing performance and access to DLSS 3 frame generation with the 40-series, both of which factor into the premium cost of the 4080 Super.

RX 7900 XTX gets generous price cut on Newegg
AMD’s 7900 XTX has slowly been dropping in price as the 7000 series gets older, especially with Nvidia recently introducing the Super cards to refresh the competition. The cheapest you’ll find an RTX 4080 Super would be $999.99, either for the rarely in-stock Founders Edition, or this PNY model (at least at the time of writing).
If you instead want to save some cash, we’d definitely recommend this exclusive Newegg deal on the ASRock Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 7900 XTX. Usually priced at $939.99, it has dropped to $919.99, then even further with a limited offer promo code – all the way down to just $889.99. That’s a solid $110 cheaper than the 4080 Super, making it look overpriced in comparison.

We’ve come across many people wondering how the RTX 4080 Super vs RX 7900 XTX compare. In terms of raw performance, the XTX actually pulls ahead according to our benchmarks; the Nvidia GPU still remains the better choice for ray tracing. That being said, the better memory for the XTX (24GB vs 16GB) makes it a more future-proof option for high resolution gaming and excellent for productivity workloads as well.
Thanks to the notably lower price of the RX 7900 XTX, we’d definitely recommend it in most cases over the RTX 4080 Super. Techradar has a great guide if you want further comparisons. If you have a big focus on ray tracing, then Nvidia’s for you, otherwise, enjoy this Newegg price cut while it’s live.
