Even though it’s not strictly a gaming monitor, the LG C4 OLED TV offers everything you need in a gaming display, and the improved refresh rate provides those with a powerful gaming PC an excellent gaming experience at 4K 144Hz. And of course, the crisp OLED panel is back.
Both previous LG C2 and LG C3 models have been a popular pick for PC gaming if a big screen experience is what you’re looking for. They are fantastic for console players to as you’d expect, so work well as a hybrid option. There are numerous improvements over last get, but the jump up to 144Hz brings it on par with many of the best gaming monitors for 4K gaming.

LG C4 OLED TV offers 144Hz instead of 120Hz
One of the most notable improvements when comparing LG C3 vs C4 is that the newer generation offers a higher refresh rate. It now fully unlocks the potential of HDMI 2.1 (without DSC) – 144Hz at 4K. Many of you may have thought that the 2.1 standard only supports up to 120Hz as that is what has been most common for gaming TVs. This is a common refresh rate on TVs due to the limitations of current-gen consoles as 120 FPS is a hard frame limit. PC gamers don’t have that issue though.
The LG C4 comes in a wide range of sizes and we’ve previously seen LG’s C-Series be popular for PC gaming, particularly the smallest 42-inch model. You get a super immersive experience playing at 4K if you have enough space to accommodate it. So, the jump from 120Hz to 144Hz offers another boost to make it worth considering, even up against the best 4K 144Hz monitors.
Should I get the LG C4 for PC gaming?
There’s no doubt that the LG C4 will be a solid choice for gaming – whether that be on console, PC, or both. We definitely recommend it if you want a big-screen 4K experience (and have a powerful gaming PC to back it up for high refresh rate gaming). See our where to buy LG C4 OLED TV page if you want to get your hands on it. The OLED panel is highly responsive, while the color accuracy & contrast is top notch for HDR gaming.
