Snoop Dogg Says He Has ‘Love and Respect’ for Donald Trump

  • Snoop Dogg told the Sunday Times in London that he has “love and respect” for Donald Trump.
  • The rapper cited Trump’s decision to pardon Michael Harris, the cofounder of Death Row Records.
  • Snoop Dogg has harshly criticized Trump several times in recent years.

Snoop Dogg has nothing but kind things to say about Donald Trump these days.

The “Gin and Juice” rapper seems to have had a change of heart toward the former US president, according to an interview with The Sunday Times in London.

“He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris,” Snoop Dogg, 52, said.

Harris is a cofounder of Snoop Dogg’s first label, Death Row Records, who was imprisoned for drug trafficking and attempted murder, according to The New York Times. Trump pardoned Harris in January 2021.

“So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump,” Snoop Dogg added.

It was a surprising thing to say. Snoop Dogg has been much less complimentary of Trump in the past. Snoop Dogg was among the celebrities who publicly disavowed Trump after he became president in 2016.

That November, Snoop Dogg eagerly told his followers his plans to move to Canada because of Trump. Four months later, Snoop Dogg shared the music video for his song “Lavender,” which featured a clown named Ronald Klump who shared similar features to Trump.

Trump hit back at Snoop Dog on X, then known as Twitter, to criticize the music video.

“Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!” Trump wrote.

In November 2017, Snoop Dogg took it one step further by releasing cover art for his EP, “Make America Crip Again.” The picture featured a corpse labeled “Trump,” according to The Hill.

Then Trump pardoned Snoop’s friend and his feelings appeared to soften.

“I love what they did,” Snoop Dogg told the New York Post in January 2021. “That’s great work for the president and his team on the way out.”
