The first Ryzen 8000 laptop release date window has been confirmed by AMD at their latest reveal show for their AI-powered processors. To be clear, we don’t yet have a specific date, or even a month, but a rough window of time from which we can extrapolate based on historical release patterns from the company.
This however only represents the release period of one sub-series in the range, namely the Zen 4 Hawk Point 8040 series. The more powerful Strix Point 8050 series, that we assume will be powered by Zen 5 architecture, will be arriving later. Read on for all the info!

The latest Ryzen 8000 laptop release date info
The below roadmap gives us a nice indication of the overall release pattern of the new mobile CPU range. Read below for more in-depth details.
When will Zen 4 Ryzen 8040 laptops come out?
In an AMD press release they stated that Hawk Point Ryzen 8040 laptops ‘are expected to be broadly available from leading OEMs including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Razer, beginning in Q1 2024’. So we can definitively say the that first Ryzen 8040 laptops are scheduled to release before the end of March 2024.
Looking at last year, we saw the first Ryzen 7000 series devices come out in February 2023 after their January unveiling at CES. We think a similar pattern is likely this year, with the laptops almost certainly being shown off at CES 2024 which runs from 9th – 12th Jan, and companies probably wanting to get them on the shelves not too long after, so hopefully February once again.
When will Zen 5 Ryzen 8050 laptops come out?
The Ryzen 8050 series have been confirmed as existing by AMD as you can see in the above screengrab from their press release on the 6th of December, 2023. We know that these will be powerful CPUs based upon next-gen technology (as opposed to the Hawk Point CPUs which have the same Zen 4 architecture as the previous 7040 series), and that they will be appearing in 2024, however beyond that there’s been no additional information.
Recent rumors do suggest however a release in the mid-point of the year, which would fit a similar release pattern to when we saw the majority of powerful ‘Dragon Range‘ Ryzen 7045 series-powered laptops hit the shelves.
Ryzen 8000 laptop release date FAQs
Will AMD Ryzen 8000 laptops be worth buying?
At this stage it’s impossible to say whether or not Ryzen 8000 series laptops will be worth your hard-earned cash, as there have been no third-party benchmarks of the 8040 series and the 8050 series are merely rumors at this stage.
Based on what we do know, those looking for high-end gaming laptops will want to wait for the potential release of the Ryzen 8050 range, as the 8040s will be more focused on light-medium gaming, but primarily creative and productivity uses including AI-assisted development.
Do we know the pricing of Ryzen 8000 series laptops?
As of yet AMD have released no confirmed information about the price of the Ryzen 8000 series devices, but as soon as we do know we will update this page accordingly. Our best is that they will be similarly priced to how the Ryzen 7040 range were upon their release.
