Yet another GPU model could be on the horizon and if you are looking for the RTX 4080 Super release date we have a good look at when you might be able to expect it. With leaks and rumors on the potential upcoming cards, it isn’t set in stone as of yet but with a history of previous releases we can have a good look at when they might be expected.
With the RTX 4080 Super specs being suggested, and news on the model name popping up more often it might be sooner than expected. Coming in before the RTX 50 series release, it does offer a mid-gen upgrade to the range of GPUs in the current generation. Even though it doesn’t have the full range as the previous gen, this is expected to bring some improvements. Though we’re not particularly excited about the prospect of an RTX 4080 Super.

Although the Super range was skipped for the RTX 30 series it was seen before with the RTX 20 and GTX 16 cards. As such with the RTX 40 Super cards expected we look to when they might come and in particular the RTX 4080.
RTX 4080 Super release date prediction
Previously the RTX 4090 had launched in September and came out in October 2022, which also has passed. The RTX 4070 Ti came in January 2023, which is a lot more likely date. As the rumors swell, it is more likely soon – and with CES being held in early January 2024, it could be the time as they had previously announced cards there so that could be the 4080 Super next in line. Unless they plan a quieter launch, but that’s unlikely. In fact, Kopite has suggested that the cards will be coming at CES, which is the more reasonable option.
Further rumors come from IT Home, who report that the RTX 40 series will start being released on January 9th 2024 to coincides with CES 2024 – which is taking place in Las Vegas on January 9th – January 12th. However, what about the RTX 4080 in particular? Well, as VideoCardz report, (again sourcing IT Home), the RTX 4080 SUPER could be released on January 31, 2024. That would be following the launch of the 4070 SUPER and 4070 Ti SUPER. They say that the big announcement could be just prior on January 8.
RTX Super release date history
Looking back at what the previous graphics card releases were like and even the Super models, we might get an idea of when we might see them. Some launches are aligned with events and might be a good idea of when to expect the next releases.
- RTX 2080: September 2018
- RTX 2080 Super: July 2019
- RTX 2070: October 2018
- RTX 2070 Super: July 2019
These Super models came around 9 months after the initial launch, but there were fewer Ti models at the time too. These would suggest the RTX 4080 Super coming in July/August 2023, which has been and gone. With such dropped demand for the graphics cards, it’s no surprise they didn’t come as soon. That gives us a few possible times to expect the new card.
Does the RTX 4080 Super exist?
It is highly probable that the RTX 4080 Super is going to be coming out soon. Both were spotted in an upcoming HWInfo changelog and in Device ID, they bring the likelihood of the GPU existing up higher. With a good enough chance that it will be on the way, there is plenty of time for it to come out rather soon.
