We already know that the OLED G9 comfortably sits as one of the best ultrawide gaming monitors money can buy, but this refreshed model and new Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 specs could help cement its position. Even we’d have to say we’re more interested in the new OLED G6 specs and OLED G8 specs, the G9 is yet again featured as part of Samsung’s latest OLED line-up which they will be showing off at CES 2024 (which starts on January 9th). As we get ready for an expansion of Samsung’s OLED range, what does the new OLED G9 have to offer? Well, some tweaks here and there are more than welcome, but we don’t see any current G9 owners upgrading based on what we know so far. Either way, let’s jump straight into the details. In terms of hardware specifications, the new OLED G9 hasn’t changed much. It yet again boasts a mammoth dual QHD 49-inch 5120 x 1440 screen. In case you aren’t aware, that’s equivalent of two 27 inch monitors stitched together into one seamless, immersive experience; the new 27″ OLED G6. springs to mind here. Here’s what Samsung have revealed so far in their pre-CES 2024 announcement. The real changes can be found within the features. The first OLED G9 released back in 2023 actually spawned two different models – the G95SC and G93SC, the former featuring the Tizen smart platform and the latter forgoing that for a cheaper price. In other words, you can use the G95SC as a smart TV and cloud gaming platform, and the new OLED G9 (G95SD) retains that functionality. Again, Samsung aim to make the G9 an entertainment hub in and of itself. What is actually new then? Well, first off, this new model is getting Multi Control functionality. This is a new feature that allows you to seamlessly connect other Samsung devices such as your phone, Galaxy Book, or tablet and control them via your mouse and keyboard. You will also be able to integrate your OLED G9 as part of your smart home with the Samsung SmartThings Hub. The new OLED G9 is making its debut at CES 2024 and will likely be sold later on in the year, much like its current model. We see no reason to upgrade to this new model from your existing G9, but it does offers some interesting functionality for users that want an all-in-one entertainment hub. No, the new Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 sticks to its 240Hz refresh rate with this updated 2024 model. If you’re looking for a 360Hz OLED, then the new OLED G6 is what you’re offer.Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 specs (G95SD)
