Sonnet DisplayLink USB-C to Dual 4K 60Hz HDMI Adapter Released

Sonnet recently released a new version of its DisplayLink dual HDMI adapter with a native USB-C port, which allows you to connect two 4K 60Hz displays simultaneously. This adapter is compatible with Apple M1/M2/M3 Macs but also Windows, Ubuntu, and Chromebook computers. Furthermore, the adapter has power passthrough capabilities up to 90W, so your laptop can charge simultaneously. So, let’s take a closer look at this handy adapter!

If you’re an Apple Macbook M-series user, you probably know your computer officially only supports one external display per port at up to 6K 60Hz. If you have more than one display and don’t want to use multiple ports on your computer, you must go through a dock or an adapter. However, adapters that support multiple displays are relatively rare on the market. Last year, Sonnet launched the DisplayLink, but with a USB-A port, which was not very handy. The company returned to the drawing board and recently released an updated version: the Sonnet DisplayLink USB-C to dual 4K 60Hz HDMI adapter.

Sonnet DisplayLink USB-C to dual 4K 60Hz HDMI adapter – features

The Sonnet DisplayLink USB-C to dual 4K 60Hz HDMI adapter allows you, as its name suggests, to connect two monitors by using only one of your computer’s USB-C ports. The adapter has a captive 34cm USB-C cable, and it measures 2.3 x 4.5 x 0.6in/6 x 11.4 x 1.5cm, so it won’t take up much space in your everyday backpack. The Sonnet DisplayLink USB-C is bus-powered, so it doesn’t require any external power.

At the back of the adapter, you’ll find a second USB-C port that can be used for passthrough power, which is handy. According to Sonnet, the DisplayLink USB-C supports up to two 4K (3840 x 2160) displays at 60Hz or two 1440p/1080P displays at 144Hz. The DisplayLink also supports display rotation and closed clamshell for M-series Mac users.

For M-series Macs, it is compatible with macOS 11+ and macOS Sonoma. You can find the entire compatibility list on Sonnet’s website.
