Here at CineD, we are proud to expose companies from our industry by conducting engaging factory tours, and this time, we are visiting SIRUI Optical. This company specializes in manufacturing camera accessories, lights, and tripods, yet is best known for producing affordable anamorphic and manual/autofocus lenses. The company is situated in Zhongshan City in the Guangdong province of China, and during this visit, we concentrated on documenting how some of their lenses are being made.
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to visit SIRUI Optical and meet Mr. Li Jie, the owner and CEO of the company. We discussed when/how/why the company was established, what led to the production of modestly priced anamorphic lenses, and much more.
Apart from being able to interview Mr. Li, the company completely opened their doors to me, and in all honesty, showing the process of making lenses in such a transparent way was simply fascinating. The company employs more than 700 people and their office/factory space capacity will soon double in size.

The main camera used for filming during this trip: is the FUJIFILM X-S20.
Many thanks to Sonny Liu, my guide at the factory, and the people at SIRUI who were kind enough to open their company’s doors to us.
Sit back and enjoy this video, and don’t forget to let us know in the comment section below what other companies you would like to see featured in the future.
