Samsung’s More Expensive Galaxy Z Fold 6 ‘Ultra’ Model Confirmed

Samsung is rumored to launch an Ultra variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which will be more premium and expensive than the standard foldable model. Now, there’s solid evidence to support this claim as the associated model number for the said folding Galaxy smartphone has been spotted.

A new model for a new foldable variant

Dutch publication Galaxy Club shared how the Galaxy Z Fold 6 carries the SM-F958 model number, which confirms two things about the device. First, last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 (review) sports the SM-F946 model number, indicating the ‘5’ in the former is the next-generation foldable series.

Second, the existence of the Ultra foldable is given more credibility by the fact the Galaxy S24 Ultra has an SM-S928 model number, with the last digit, ‘8’, associated with an Ultra model in Samsung’s smartphone naming convention. To put the pieces of the puzzle together, this suggests the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra variant does exist.

However, the source does state the device might see limited availability as only one regional model with the SM-F958N designation being developed. The ‘N’ denotes it as a South Korean model. Based on this, it Samsung could only launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra first on its home turf before releasing it to other markets later.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra technical specifications and price

Based on available details and rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra features a new, boxier frame with flatter sides. This also comes with a slightly shorter but wider shape and wider displays in front and for the cover screens. In addition, the upcoming Ultra foldable is described to feature the new titanium material that was exclusively available on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

It remains unclear how Samsung will differentiate or distinguish the vanilla Galaxy Z Fold 6 from the Ultra model and which features will be shared. We can safely assume that both models could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and run on Android 14.

At the same time, listings reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 may utilize strengthened and more robust foldable displays known as “IronFlex”. Meanwhile, the charging speed of the two foldable lines looks likely to disappoint, which remains unchanged at 25 watts.

Samsung is expected to launch the new foldable smartphones this July. Apart from the handsets, the Galaxy Watch 7 series and Galaxy Ring will most likely debut in the same event.

We don’t know how much Samsung will price the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra yet. What is your guess? Should they retain the same price and make the standard model cheaper? Share your answers with us.
