Samsung Galaxy M55 Passes By Geekbench with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

Samsung plans to introduce the Samsung Galaxy M55 pretty soon. The device is part of an all-new generation for the Samsung Galaxy M-series, set to dominate the mid-range market in the next year. Ahead of the launch, the Samsung Galaxy M55 gave us proof of its existence with a Geekbench Benchmark run. The benchmark confirms some details including the presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

Samsung Galaxy M55 Has its First Specs listed By Geekbench

According to the Geekbench listing, the Samsung Galaxy M55 has a model number SM-M556B. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen1 chipset from Qualcomm. This chip was not a consensus among enthusiasts of performance. However, it should deliver basic tasks and battery life. The listing also confirms 8 GB of RAM which means a decent multi-tasking experience with this phone. It will run Android 14-based One UI 6 straight out of the box.

Gizchina News of the week

Curiously, the phone was tested on an older 4.2 version of Geekbench, which is outdated at this point. The scores are higher when compared to modern phones that run a Geekbench 5.0 or 6.0 benchmark. The phone scored 3,575 on single-core and 11,330 on multi-core department. However, due to the outdated benchmark version, we can’t compare these numbers with other smartphones.

However, we can still compare its Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 CPU with other devices. The chipset is the same inside of the Honor 90 and Xiaomi 13 Lite smartphones. It’s decent for moderate gaming and basic app usage. It’s a nice step forward in comparison to the Exynos 1380 inside of the Galaxy M54. The change may also be noticed in the battery life, which is more optimized in Qualcomm processors.

Although there are other factors to be considered like display, cameras, and battery size, the Samsung Galaxy M55 should be a decent option based on what we can extract from Geekbench. Obviously, there are some details missing, but we expect Samsung to share some details when the launch dates approach. Besides the Galaxy M55, Samsung is already working on the Galaxy A55 and in other devices that will be part of its 2024 mid-range generation. We expect the firm to share more details soon.
