Nikon has announced a new program that focuses on the creative video capabilities of the Z8 Full Frame Mirrorless Camera. The program, known as “* Days with Z8,” will showcase diverse visual storytelling and how the Z8 helps content creators push the limits of their cinematic creativity.
“We are thrilled to showcase the incredible short films these creators made that embody authenticity, creativity, and visual storytelling,” said Naoki Onozato, President and CEO of Nikon Inc.
“At Nikon, we are committed to empowering creators and providing them with the tools they need to bring their visions to life, such as the Nikon Z 8. We look forward to witnessing the incredible stories that will unfold.”
To kick off the program, Nikon invited eight filmmakers, DPs, videographers, and content creators to create, shoot, edit, and submit a short film within eight days, inspired by the word “Authenticity.”
The participating creators will also create a behind-the-scenes video that will give Nikon fans an inside look into the challenges of bringing their vision to life and their creative process.
Each content creator was given a Nikon 8 Full Frame mirrorless camera, which has been packed with advanced features, such as 8K60p RAW video recording from the camera’s Nikon 45.7 backside illuminated (BSI) CMOS image sensor and a set of Nikkor Z lenses.
With this setup, the creatives will be able to capture 8.3K Nikon Raw at 60 frames per second or ProRes Raw at 4.1 K at 60p.
The Z8 can also capture both 8K30p and 4K120p internally with a 10-bit color. Other features include AI-based subject detection and 493-point autofocus while saving to either Type B CF Express or SD memory cards.
Other enhancements include Nikon’s new auto-capture feature, which autonomously records either stills or videos based on preprogrammed criteria. As a subject comes within range of the Z8, the Z8 will begin recording without the need to press the shutter button.
The Nikon Z8 also supports ISO 200 in N-Log, which delivers better noise performance in shadows while opening the lens wide to capture more light, detail, and shallow depth of field.
Each week during March and April, Nikon will release a new creator film on its YouTube channel, while interested viewers can keep up with the program on both Instagram and TikTok.
