Hello, everyone!
My name is Jane Iskra, and together with my husband Tony, we are ISKRA Photography.
We’ve been together for more than fifteen years and shooting weddings and elopements together for over fourteen years.
It truly feels like all our lives!
We are based in Iceland but also shoot in Italy, Norway, the Faroe Islands, all of Europe and, let’s say, the world.
Our passion is adventurous weddings and elopements. We are really in love with what we do, so it’s not a big deal to climb to a mountaintop to have a sunrise ceremony, cross a river, or hike to the glacier cave.
We go the extra for our couples to capture the most epic photos!
Canon EOS R6 – is one of THE BEST cameras we have ever used. We have two of these, which are incredibly fast and have an insanely high working ISO and rapid autofocus.
They are still flawlessly compatible with all Canon lenses via the EF-RF adaptor, and we haven’t had any issues with them capturing the most dynamic scenes.
We always were Canon guys, starting with their very first DSLR, the Canon EOS 5D, so we have seen and experienced the whole evolution of Canon full-frame cameras.
Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L USM – this is our precious baby. It is one of the best lenses ever, truly a beast, especially considering the quality of the images it produces.
It is sharp and can keep contrast and colour in all kinds of light. It’s a huge and heavy lens, but it’s worth it, mainly because it can replace all the prime lenses in the focal range between 28mm and 70mm.
Canon RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM – the second zoom in our bag which is small and light, but still a capable sharp prime lens. I couldn’t imagine shooting a wedding without it for two reasons: it’s great for details and dynamic scenes and can deliver incredible compression to show the scale of the most epic places.
Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM – the widest lens in our collection. Used mainly for low light situations, when we still need a wide angle, for example, a dark hotel room or a tiny old church.
Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART DG HSM – our second go-to lens, capable of capturing amazing pictures in low light, creating a great bokeh while delivering slightly muted and washed-out colours.
Sigma 85mm f/1.4 ART DG HSM – the least used lens in our bag. It is chunky and heavy but can produce clean, sharp and contrasty images. It is the lens we use for the darkest receptions and after-the-sunset close-ups.
DJI Mavic 3 Pro – we use drones a lot in our work, and this one is the king of foldable drones. So far, it’s the most capable drone we’ve ever used.
It is easy to operate, beating the strongest Icelandic winds, and has an excellent camera with three focal lengths. We are in love with the colours and quality it delivers.
One thing worth mentioning is to buy DJI insurance if you plan to use a drone to capture footage and photos during weddings. It has already saved us thousands of dollars, and we’re much more relaxed whilst shooting with a drone.
Our passion is natural light photography, meaning we almost never use flashes. The one we own is a Canon Speedlight 600 EX-RT, but 99,9% of the time, it stays in the backpack. It may be used only for dances and drag-the-shutter kind of shots.
WANDRD ALL-NEW PRVKE 31L – is the best backpack we have ever used. Ours is only two years old but still looks almost like a new one despite being used in all our travels.
It is waterproof, reliable, has a great design and can contain all the gear needed for a wedding in only one bag.
We use a super classic software set, Adobe Lightroom Classic and Adobe Photoshop. However, one more great tool we’ve recently discovered that helps speed up our workflow is Narrative Select. It saves so much time to cull the galleries after a shoot.
Life is short, so make the most of it. Finding joy in what we do and pursuing our passions fearlessly is crucial.
So, don’t hesitate to take risks and explore new avenues!
