The key to this trick is that there is no direct way of redeeming Steam keys. Instead, you’ll have to go through the wallet and redeem the code through there.
Step 1. Launch the Steam application.

Step 3. Expand the Store option.
Step 4. Select Wallet.
Step 5. Select Add funds to your Steam Wallet.

And just like that, you’ve redeemed the code. If you are actually redeeming a wallet code and it isn’t in your local currency, it should be converted automatically.
