Dreame Dreamebot D9 Max review: Initial Setup
The DreameBot D9 Max presents a familiar appearance, akin to other robot vacuum cleaners often featured in social media videos or advertisements. Sporting a rounded shape, reminiscent of a carrom striker, this device is crafted from premium-quality plastic. At the top, a hump hosts LiDAR sensors (eight infrared sensors), while at the bottom, multiple wheels facilitate seamless movement throughout your home. Despite its compact design, standing at approximately 4 inches in height, the DreameBot D9 Max proves adept at navigating under most furniture.
In terms of design specifics, the robot comes with essential components, including a power dock, mop, water tank, dusting brush, side brush, cleaning brush, HEPA filter, and an instruction manual.
Setting up the device for its initial use is a straightforward process. Download the Dreamehome app on your phone, connect the charging dock to a power outlet, and attach the provided accessories to the DreameBot D9 Max. Upon creating your Dreame app account and adding the device, you’ll be prompted to grant permission for a quick scan of your house to create an efficient cleaning map. This initial scan, taking around 20 minutes, may vary depending on your home’s size. Notably, the LiDAR sensor impressively captures areas like balconies without physically venturing into them.
The Dreame Home App enhances user control over the map, enabling room labeling, creation of no-go zones, and adjustment of cleaning settings. Moreover, the app allows you to set up cleaning schedules and sequences for different rooms based on your preferences. Overall, the setup process is user-friendly, requiring minimal technical expertise to get the DreameBot D9 Max up and running.
Dreamebot D9 Max review: Floor Cleaning and Mopping
Wondering about the floor-cleaning prowess of the DreameBot D9 Max? Let’s dive in. This robot vacuum impresses with its effective floor cleaning capabilities, thanks to a robust 4000pa suction capacity that adeptly collects dust and debris from the floor without requiring your intervention. Throughout our review, we primarily utilized the auto mode, allowing the DreameBot D9 Max to intelligently detect the type of surface, be it a floor or carpet, and adjust its suction intensity accordingly. For optimal results, it’s advisable to clear obstacles, ensuring the device can navigate seamlessly and leave no area untouched.
When it comes to the cleaning process, the DreameBot D9 Max follows a systematic approach. Upon receiving a command to clean a specific section or room, it diligently covers all corners before commencing the cleaning process in a Z pattern. Testing its effectiveness, we intentionally scattered dust and litter in our living room. The DreameBot D9 Max demonstrated its powerful motor, efficiently tackling the debris.
A notable feature is the carpet boost option, automatically engaging maximum suction power when the device detects a carpet on the floor. This ensures thorough and efficient cleaning of carpets.
Additionally, the robot comes equipped with a 270ml water tank attachment featuring a velcroed mop pad. Activating the mopping mode is a breeze—simply clip on the water tank, and the machine automatically switches to mopping mode. The app allows you to adjust the mopping intensity to suit your preferences. While the mopping functionality proved effective for general cleaning, it may struggle with tough stains in one attempt. The water usage is conservative, and although I would have preferred slightly more moisture for a wetter mop, overall, the DreameBot D9 Max left me satisfied with its post-mopping results, delivering a clean floor.
Dreamebot D9 Max review: Battery Life
The DreameBot D9 Max is equipped with a robust 5200mAh battery, and its efficiency is contingent on the chosen cleaning mode. In my experience, using the strong suction setting, it efficiently swept my 1685 sq. ft. home in approximately 20 minutes, leaving a substantial 73 percent of battery power remaining. Similarly, in Sweeping and Mopping mode, the device returned to the charging dock with a respectable 65 percent battery level.
For more demanding cleaning tasks, the turbo mode was occasionally engaged. While this mode exhibited higher power consumption, pushing the suction motor to full capacity, I did not observe complete battery depletion during usage. In the rare event of low battery levels, the DreameBot D9 Max automatically returns to the charging dock, replenishes a portion of the battery, and resumes cleaning the remaining area seamlessly. This smart charging and resumption feature ensures uninterrupted cleaning performance.
Dreamebot D9 Max review: Maintenance
Maintaining the DreameBot D9 Max involves some regular attention on your part. The bin, for instance, should be cleaned every third or fourth day, depending on the size of your living space. Fortunately, the process of removing and cleaning the bin is simple and doesn’t demand much effort.
After each use, it’s essential to clean the mopping pad to ensure optimal performance during subsequent cleaning sessions. Additionally, before engaging the mopping feature, be sure to refill the water tank.
To maintain efficiency, a bit of effort is required in cleaning the main sweeping brush regularly. This brush tends to accumulate hairs and threads, impacting its effectiveness. A weekly cleaning routine should suffice for most users.
It’s worth noting that, like other robot cleaners, the DreameBot D9 Max necessitates the replacement of certain components as they reach the end of their life cycle. This includes the HEPA filter, brushes, and mopping pad. According to the app, these components typically have a lifespan of about 150 to 300 hours. To facilitate this, the Dreame Home Companion app allows you to track the lifespan of these components, ensuring timely replacements for consistent performance.
Dreamebot D9 Max review Verdict: Should you buy it?
For me, the DreameBot D9 Max stands out as a viable alternative to traditional housekeeping assistance, delivering satisfactory cleaning results on demand. Particularly beneficial for busy working professionals and their families, this product proves its worth by offering scheduled daily cleaning, allowing you to focus on your routine activities.
The DreameBot D9 Max showcases its effectiveness by reaching places that may be challenging for you to access. It excels in sweeping floors for dust, providing a thorough clean where manual efforts may fall short.
When it comes to mopping, the DreameBot D9 Max handles the task comfortably, ensuring a clean surface. However, it’s worth noting that for more stubborn stains, such as dried tea spills overnight, a little assistance in pre-soaking or scrubbing might be required before instructing the DreameBot D9 Max to mop. This slight intervention ensures optimal performance in tackling tougher stains, contributing to an overall efficient and convenient cleaning experience.
