BOYA, the audio company, is introducing BOYAMIC, a wireless microphone with on-board recording. With this 3-in-1 solution, the company offers high compatibility, on-board recording, and studio-quality sound. Looking to balance performance and versatility, the BOYAMIC is aimed at content creators. Let’s see what it looks like!
BOYA is an audio technology brand that started their journey in 2012 and whose motto is ‘Innovative · Reliable · Versatile’. With this philosophy, they have announced the new BOYAMIC 3-in-1 wireless microphone with on-board recording. The mic is announced as a solution for content creators who want a versatile solution in a small package, similar to what DJI and RØDE already have on the market.
A first look at the BOYAMIC
The BOYAMIC features 8GB memory ensuring 15-hour on-board recording, which should be more than enough for almost every situation a content creator can find. The TX internal recording feature provides an extra layer of protection.
The device offers precise control with 16-level gain adjustment (from -6 dB to +9 dB). With a sampling rate of 48kHz, a bit depth of 24-bit, a signal-to-noise ratio of 90 dB, and a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 120 dB, the company aims to place the BOYAMIC into the category of a professional-grade device. It features three recording modes (mono, stereo, and safety track) and is designed to perform in varied situations like broadcasting, videos, podcasts, music, content creation, etc.
The BOYAMIC offers a straightforward setup thanks to its lightning type-C connectors and a 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRS adapter cable, simplifying its usability. It also features an HD OLED display and real-time playback monitoring. We can also adjust the parameters with the BOYA app. We can wear it in different ways – back clip clamping, magnetic attachment, and magnetic back clip.
The battery, which can be charged while in use, has an operation time of up to 50 hours, 11 for RX and 10 for TX, fully charging in around 90 minutes. Finally, the BOYAMIC wireless transmission has an operating range of up to 300 meters without obstacles, which should be enough for almost any scenario.
Price and availability
The BOYAMIC retails for $159, and you can buy it on the BOYA website.
