Blackmagic Web Presenter has a new update for both the HD and 4K models. The software update adds bug fixes, ensuring mobile tethering with the newest Google Pixel models, and H.265 streaming on YouTube. It also adds a new REST API that will help integrate the Web Presenter into automation systems.
The Blackmagic Web Presenter is designed for professional video streaming applications. This compact device facilitates the conversion of external video sources into high-quality streams for high-quality web broadcasting.
The Web Presenter incorporates advanced features such as Teranex conversion technology, which ensures optimal video processing and scaling. Additionally, it includes a built-in hardware encoder that supports popular streaming platforms, offering a plug-and-play solution for users seeking a straightforward and reliable means of bringing professional video content to online audiences. The device is equipped with a USB port for direct connection to a computer, enabling seamless integration with popular streaming software and platforms.
Blackmagic Web Presenter 3.4 software update – what’s new?
At the heart of the update is the addition of REST API. While this might not be relevant for all of us, it will enhance the Web Presenter’s abilities in the right hands, broadening its range of possibilities. Targeting software developers, the REST API allows seamless integration of the Web Presenter into automation systems, providing precise control over streaming parameters. Users can customize streaming parameters in greater detail compared to the existing XML-based settings, allowing for a more tailored and powerful streaming experience. The REST API enables users to remotely update streaming platform details, enhancing flexibility and convenience in managing streaming configurations. Furthermore, developers now have the opportunity to build custom applications that control the Web Presenter, ensuring the incorporation of specific features tailored to individual needs.
This update also addresses specific issues and bugs, including a bug fix ensuring compatibility with mobile tethering on the latest Google Pixel phones. Furthermore, it resolves an issue related to H.265 streaming with SRT on YouTube, where correct streaming was previously hindered. As a temporary solution, the default streaming settings have been adjusted to H.264 until a comprehensive fix is implemented. Importantly, users retain the flexibility to override this codec setting through the XML file if needed.
