Atlas Orion Anamorphic Lenses - 18mm, 135mm, and 200mm Focal Lengths Now Available

Atlas Lens Co. has expanded their catalog of anamorphic lenses by releasing the new Atlas Orion anamorphic 18mm, 135mm, and 200mm lenses. These lenses expand the available lineup of the series (21mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 65mm, 80mm, and 100mm).

Atlas Lens Co. is a company based in Glendale, California renowned for crafting affordable anamorphic cinema lenses. Since their first release of the 65 Orion series at NAB 2017, they have consistently expanded their lens lineup with various releases.

New options for a growing lineup of lenses

The new Atlas Orion anamorphic 18mm, 135mm, and 200mm lenses offer new possibilities for those looking to expand their focal length choice when using this set. As with the other lenses from the series, the new ones provide low chromatic aberration, oval bokeh, and streak flares. They also feature both Arri PL and Canon EF mounts to allow compatibility with a wide range of cameras, as well as unified focus, iris gear position, and standardized dimensions.

The Orion 18mm features a 140º horizontal field-of-view, which, according to the brand, is the widest horizontal field-of-view of any Cinemascope format 35mm motion picture camera lens. The lens offers a T2 to T16 aperture with lower distortion than usual in this focal length, with a 2x anamorphic squeeze, 18” (1.5’) close focus, and an image coverage of 4-Perf film for a 2.40:1 Cinemascope Aspect Ratio. It also covers full-frame formats edge-to-edge with the Atlas 1.6x LF Extender and Atlas 1.4x LF Extender.

The Atlas Orion 135mm T2.2 has a field of view of 20.9º, a close focus of 3.5 feet (106.68cm), and weighs 8.8 lbs (3.99kg). Finally, it covers beyond anamorphic 4-Perf film format into 2.40:1 delivery in full-frame on film and digital.

Finally, the Atlas Orion series 200mm 2X anamorphic lens has the longest focal length in the Orion Series. With a maximum aperture of T3.2, it has a field of view of 14.4º, a close focus distance of 3.5 feet (106.68cm), and weighs 9 lbs (4 kg). The focal length can be expanded to 280mm by adding the 1.4x Expander or to 320mm with the 1.6x LF Extender.

Price and availability

The new Atlas Lens Co. Orion 18mm is now available for preorder at $17,995. The 135mm and the 200mm will cost $14,995.
