Reports about new iPad Pro models with OLED screens have been doing rounds on the internet for quite some time. However, even though they excited several enthusiasts, subsequent rumors about a gigantic price hike disappointed many. Now, a new report claims that the 2024 iPad Pro price hike will be much less.
Here’s Where The 2024 iPad Pro Price Could Start From
According to a report by DigiTimes, the new iPad Pro with an 11-inch OLED screen will cost $160 more than its predecessor. Given that the current 11-inch iPad Pro (2022) starts at $799 for the base variant, the OLED screen could cost around $959, or $999 if Apple rounds it up. Similarly, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2022) currently costs $1,099. However, the hike could increase its price to $1,259 or $1,299.
Why Are OLED iPads Such A Big Deal?
Even though the mini-LED display on the iPad Pro is a significant upgrade from the traditional LCD technology, it isn’t quite as good as OLED. Apple’s iPhones and Apple Watches have utilized OLED technology for years, enhancing the viewing experience by producing deep blacks and bright whites. Further, OLED screens on the iPad Pro should also fix the blooming issue several reviews mentioned. Check out more details about different types of screens here.
2024 iPad Pro Models Could Also Feature Apple’s M3 Chipset
The upcoming iPad Pro models won’t only feature OLED displays. They are also touted to feature Apple’s latest 3nm silicon chip, the M3. Currently, the chipset and its variants power the latest MacBook Pro lineup. Along with the M3-powered iPad Pro, the company could also release a MacBook Air variant based on the same processor.
Even though the new report about a $160 price hike seems more realistic, Apple might incorporate more changes in the top-tier iPad Pro lineup to charge a premium. For instance, some models might feature upgraded cameras, increased storage, or even MagSafe charging capabilities, resulting in steeper pricing.
Apple Could Also Release A New Magic Keyboard This Year
Apart from the OLED screens and an upgraded chip, Apple could also release a new Magic Keyboard for the 2024 iPad lineup. According to a report by Bloomberg, the new Magic Keyboard will “make the iPad Pro look more like a laptop and include a sturdier frame with aluminum.” Going by the report, this will be the first time in four years that the accessory is upgraded.
