Popular Samsung Galaxy A51 Reaches End of Life – No More Software Updates

Samsung is known for catering to all segments of the smartphone market. It has entry-level, mid-range, and flagships. While it may sound surprising, but the mid-range phones of Samsung often sell as good as the flagships. The Samsung Galaxy A51 is a proper example of that.

What’s more important is that both the 4G LTE and 5G versions of Galaxy A51 were on a biannual update schedule. But starting this month, only the 5G variant of the smartphone will receive updates. This means that the 4G LTE version has reached its end of life.

Samsung Galaxy A51 Joins Others in the EOL List

Last month, Samsung removed a couple of devices that will not get software support anymore. Among the removed devices are the Galaxy Tab S6, Tab S6 5G, and, unfortunately, the Galaxy A51 4G. There are some good reasons why this smartphone became popular among the users.

Galaxy A51

Gizchina News of the week

For starters, it was the first device to launch with Android 10. Yes, before the flagship S series got Android 10, the Galaxy A51 LTE variant had it. What’s more important is that the device had a balanced set of specs. The highlights include a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED screen, an octa-core CPU, and up to 8 GB of RAM.

One UI 5

As it has reached EOL, the Samsung Galaxy A51 4G users are stuck in the One UI 5. But the good news is that the popularity of the device has made it a good level of third-party support. For example, you can get detailed guidelines on how to install TWRP and install a custom ROM on it. Doing this will allow you to enjoy some of the new features that Android brings.

But before you go through that route, note that installing a custom ROM requires a little technical knowledge. A wrong move can brick the Galaxy A51 4G, making it unusable. If you’re looking for resources, I would personally recommend XDAForums.
