In a surprising turn of events, a publication spotted an updated version of the PS5 DualSense controller on an e-commerce platform. Even though Sony didn’t reveal the controller at CES 2024, it showcased new PS5 colors, including red, silver, and blue. Nonetheless, the new controller reportedly offers better battery life than the one currently available on the market.
Here’s The Leaked PS5 Controller’s Name
Recently, The Verge spotted a new PS5 DualSense controller on Best Buy’s Canadian website. The listing was titled “PlayStation 5 V2 DualSense Wireless Controller,” with the model number “1000039935.” The price of the device listed on the website was $89.99, much higher than the retail price of the regular PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller.
The Listing Also Promised Better Battery Life
However, the listing included a click-in charging station in the box. While the regular controller offers a battery life of seven to eight hours, depending on the game one plays, the one in concern claimed to provide an “exceptional 12-hour battery life.” This is a significant jump from what the current version offers and could be helpful for several users who indulge in prolonged gaming sessions on their PlayStation.
All The Other Features Appear To Be The Same
However, besides the increased battery life, all other aspects, such as the vibrational motors, adaptive triggers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an in-built microphone, remain the same. Further, it is important to mention that the listing did not include all the product specifications; hence, there’s a chance that this version will never come out on the market.
Sony Didn’t Reveal An Update Controller At CES 2024
As mentioned earlier, Sony did not reveal an updated PlayStation DualSense controller at the CES 2024. Instead, it showcased new colors with shimmering metal side plates, which should be available as an accessory sometime down the line. In the past, we’ve seen Sony release colorful side plates for the PS5, which also sets a precedent for the new colorways. However, the Japanese giant did showcase the ability to control the Honda Afeela via the PS5 controller.
