It details how to design, build, and deploy a wide variety of wire antennas. Each antenna was built, tested, and put on the air by the authors. Step by step instructions and material lists are provided. Many of these antennas have been used successfully by our local club for Field Day, a major motivation for a number of these antennas. The authors use some of these antennas on a daily basis. The properties of a basic dipole are detailed and how they are impacted buy height above ground and environmental factors. Baluns and impedance matching transformers are explained. The challenges of building multi-band antennas based on harmonic resonances are explained. Capacitive loads are used to selectively move minimum SWR frequencies to align them as close as possible to the center of each band. The problems of feedline radiation and RF in the shack are explained. Means for effective mitigation are provided.
